Post-Rebonding Hair Care Routine: Tips from Mirpur’s Best Stylists
Congratulations! You’ve just walked out of Noroshundor Hair & Beauty Salon with perfectly straight, glossy, and beautifully rebonded hair. You are officially ready to say goodbye to frizz and hello to effortless mornings.
But before you start tossing your new silky locks around, you need to know a secret: the longevity of your hair rebonding depends entirely on how you treat it when you get home. Hair rebonding is a permanent chemical process, which means your hair is currently in a delicate state and needs extra love and care to stay healthy.
As Mirpur’s top hair experts, we’ve put together the ultimate Post-Rebonding Hair Care Routine to ensure your hair stays flawless for months to come.
The Crucial First 72 Hours
The first three days after your rebonding treatment are the most critical. The chemicals (specifically the neutralizer) are still settling into your hair shaft, locking the new straight structure into place. If you mess up during this window, the damage is permanent!
Here is what you MUST avoid for the first 72 hours:
– Do not wash your hair: Keep it completely dry. Avoid the rain, heavy sweating, and humid environments.
– Do not tie your hair: No hair ties, scrunchies, or clips. Let it hang perfectly straight.
– Do not tuck it behind your ears: Even a simple tuck can leave a permanent bend or kink in the hair.
– Sleep carefully: Try to sleep on your back with your hair laid out flat above your pillow to avoid crushing it while you toss and turn.
Your New Daily Hair Care Routine
Once the 72 hours have passed, you can finally wash your hair! But your routine needs an upgrade.
1. Switch to Sulfate-Free Products
Sulfates are harsh detergents found in cheap shampoos that strip natural oils from your hair. Rebonded hair is prone to dryness, so you absolutely must switch to a mild, sulfate-free shampoo.
2. Condition Like Crazy
You can never use too much conditioner on rebonded hair. Apply a rich, deeply hydrating conditioner every single time you wash your hair. Leave it on for at least 3-5 minutes before rinsing it out with cold water (cold water seals the hair cuticle and adds shine!).
3. Ditch the Towel Rub
Never roughly rub your hair with a towel to dry it. The friction will cause severe breakage and frizz. Instead, gently squeeze the excess water out with a soft microfiber towel or an old cotton t-shirt.
4. Use a Wide-Tooth Comb
Throw away your regular hairbrushes. Only use a wide-tooth wooden or plastic comb to detangle your hair, and only do it when your hair is completely dry, or when it is soaking wet and slathered in conditioner. Hair is weakest when it is wet!
Things to Avoid Long-Term
To keep your rebonding looking salon-fresh for 6 to 8 months, avoid the following:
– Heat Styling: Put the flat iron away! Your hair is already straight. If you must use a hair dryer, use it on the cool or warm setting, never hot.
– Swimming Pools & Sea Water: The chlorine in pools and the salt in seawater are incredibly damaging to chemically treated hair. If you must swim, wear a tight swimming cap.
– Harsh Hair Colors: Avoid bleaching or highlighting your hair for at least 6 months after a rebonding treatment, as the double chemical processing will cause your hair to snap.
Don’t Forget the Spa!
Even with the best at-home care, your rebonded hair needs professional TLC. We highly recommend visiting us at Noroshundor at least once a month for a Deep Conditioning Hair Spa. We use professional-grade hydration masks and ozone steam to push moisture deep into the core of your hair, restoring its elasticity and incredible shine.
